Gate safety inspections
An automated gate can trap or crush someone if its safety devices fail. We inspect against BS EN 12453 and the DHF code of practice (TS 013-1:2025), measure closing forces, and test every safety edge and photocell. You get a written record of what we found.
Servicing
Regular servicing keeps gates reliable through the winter and catches worn parts before they leave you stuck. We work on underground, ram, articulated and sliding gate motors from all major manufacturers.
Repairs
Gate stuck open, stuck shut or opening by itself? We diagnose motors, control boards, sensors and power faults, and quote before fitting anything.
Managed developments
Shared gates at blocks and private roads often fall between residents and managing agents. We work directly with property managers so there's one record and one contractor responsible.

Do electric gates need servicing?
Yes. Automated gates are machinery that can cause serious injury. Owners and managers are expected to keep them safe, which in practice means regular servicing and safety checks by a competent company.
What's checked in a gate safety inspection?
Safety edges, photocells, closing forces, manual release and the condition of the motors, hinges and controls, measured against the DHF code of practice.
My gate won't open. Can you help?
Yes. Call Fortline on 01635 938998. Most faults come down to a motor, control board, sensor or power issue, and we carry common parts.
