FAAC gate motor: manual release and faults
Verified steps here are for FAAC 391 swing gate motors. Other FAAC motors release differently: call us and we'll talk you through yours.
Covers: FAAC 391 / 391 E swing operators. Only follow steps for your own system. If anything on your screen or panel looks different, stop and call us on 01635 938998.
Video guide coming soon
A short video showing these FAAC steps will go here. Until then, follow the steps on this page.
Opening the gate by hand
- Turn off the power to the gate.
- Lift the protective cap on the lock.
- Put in the key and turn it anticlockwise to its stop.
- Turn the release knob clockwise to its stop.
- Open or close the gate slowly by hand.
Putting it back to automatic
- With the power still off, close the gate.
- Turn the release knob anticlockwise to its stop.
- Turn the key clockwise to its stop and take it out.
- Check the motor is locked, and put the cap back on.
- Turn the power back on and open the gate with your remote or button. Keep clear while it moves.
If the gate stops or reverses
- Check nothing is between the photocells or in the gate's path. If it still won't work, call us. FAAC say owners must not try to repair the motor.
Keep the release key somewhere safe and easy to find, away from the gate.
