How to look after your automated gate
Automated gates are heavy machines. These checks help keep yours safe and working.
What you can check
- Keep photocells clean and clear. Trim back plants, and don't park or store things where they block the beam.
- Keep the gate's path clear of gravel, leaves, snow and ice.
- Watch the gate move now and then. Listen for new noises and look for jerky or uneven movement.
- Know where the manual release key is kept, and keep it away from the gate.
- Turn the power off before cleaning anything on the gate.
- If the gate doesn't stop and reverse when it should, stop using it and call us.
What we test on a service
- Measure closing and opening forces with a calibrated force tester
- Test safety edges and photocells
- Check crushing, shearing and drawing-in points
- Check the manual release works
- Check motors, arms, hinges, warning lights and signage
