Advanced MxPro 5 fire alarm panel: silence, reset and faults

For Advanced MxPro 5 panels (5000 series). Other Advanced models work differently: call us and we'll talk you through yours.

Covers: Advanced MxPro 5 (5100, 5200, 5400 and V/N versions). Only follow steps for your own system. If anything on your screen or panel looks different, stop and call us on 01635 938998.

Video guide coming soon

A short video showing these Advanced steps will go here. Until then, follow the steps on this page.

After a fire alarm

Follow these steps in order. Never silence or reset before the cause is known and the building is confirmed safe.

  1. Follow your fire procedure first. The screen shows the zone where the fire alarm started.
  2. Press MUTE to quieten the panel's buzzer. Anyone can do this.
  3. Find the cause, such as a pressed call point. Any sign of fire, or no cause found: get everyone out, call 999, then call us.
  4. Turn the access key, or press a control button and enter your user code when asked.
  5. Once the cause is known and the building is confirmed safe, press SILENCE to stop the sounders, then call us on 01635 938998.
  6. When the cause has been cleared, press RESET to clear the alarm and return the panel to normal.

Afterwards

  1. Record the alarm in your log book. If you're not sure what caused it, call us.

If the panel shows a fault

  1. Press MUTE to quieten the buzzer.
  2. Read the fault on the screen and write it in your log book.
  3. Call us on 01635 938998 with the message. When the fault is fixed, the panel clears it by itself.

Common questions

How do I stop the beeping on an Advanced panel?

Press MUTE. This quietens the panel's buzzer only. Any fire or fault is still there.

How do I silence the sounders on an MxPro 5?

Turn the access key, or press SILENCE and enter your user code when asked. Only once the cause is known and the building is confirmed safe. Then call us.

How do I reset an Advanced MxPro 5?

With the cause found and cleared, press RESET using your key or user code. If it goes straight back into alarm, treat it as a real fire: get everyone out, call 999, then call us.

My MxPro 5 shows a fault. What should I do?

Mute the buzzer, write down the message on the screen and call Fortline on 01635 938998. Don't keep resetting it.

What does the green Power light mean?

The panel has power. With no other lights on and 'normal' on the screen, the panel is working normally.

Alarm sounding or a gate stuck?
